Our Approach To Educational Technology

Harnessing the power of digital technology to inspire innovative and limitless learning.

At RPS, we thoughtfully integrate educational technology to enhance and augment time-proven approaches and resources, rather than merely replacing traditional methods. Our approach to incorporating digital technology begins incrementally from the nursery age, ensuring a seamless transition for our young learners. From Year 3 onwards, children start using their own devices, which facilitates personalized learning and allows them to adapt to the ever-evolving digital landscape. Through this balanced approach, we strive to equip our students with the necessary skills to thrive in a technologically advanced world while maintaining the value of conventional educational practices.

Seesaw

Providing a window into the classroom and near real-time insights into your child's learning

Teachers use Seesaw extensively from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) as a valuable communication tool, enabling parents to gain insights into their children's classroom learning and celebrate their achievements. This platform fosters a strong connection between home and school, allowing parents to remain informed and engaged in their child's educational journey.

Seesaw in Key Stage 2 - a vital learning tool

From Year 3 onwards, Seesaw takes on an increasingly vital role in facilitating learning. It serves as a powerful tool for students to access knowledge and resources, practice key skills, and demonstrate their progress through multimodal means such as audio, video, drawing, and collages. All their work is then seamlessly collated into a digital portfolio. Seesaw also plays a crucial role in helping students acquire a wide range of digital skills, including creative multimedia, research and curation, digital collaboration, e-safety, and online citizenship, thus preparing them for a digitally connected future.

Devices for Digital Learning

1:1 Cognita Devices

In a time of rapid digital evolution, incorporating technology into education is not just advantageous but crucial. Cognita understands that digital devices are essential in contemporary education, allowing teachers and students to participate in a more interactive and customised learning environment. Our dedication to this integration ensures that every student flourishes in a swiftly changing world, armed with the skills needed to navigate and make meaningful contributions in the digital era.

Modelling safe and responsible use of digital technology

To promote responsible use of technology, our teachers frequently engage students in discussions about e-safety and digital well-being within the context of their iPads, ensuring that these conversations are authentic, topical and relevant.

E-Safety

Integration in the curriculum

E-safety and digital citizenship are essential components of our educational program. Instruction on these topics is integrated into dedicated computing lessons and incorporated into other subject lessons when applicable.

Our shared responsibility

We recognize that parents and families play a crucial role in fostering safe and responsible use of digital technology. To support a collaborative approach to e-safety, we facilitate briefings and seminars for parents, equipping them with the knowledge and tools needed to promote digital well-being both within and outside the school environment. This comprehensive approach ensures that our students are well-prepared to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.
